Bettina Sasso takes her first sip of morning coffee and looks out over the beach in the fishing district. <\/span>“I never thought I’d end up in Mallorca; I always wanted to go to Italy,” <\/em>smiles the Swiss woman. Bettina Sasso has been commuting between her home country and the Balearic island for almost a year.<\/p>\n Around 15 years ago, the Swiss woman fell in love with Mallorca. “At the time, I was travelling around the south-east of the island on behalf of a client \u2013 and that’s still my favourite part of the island today.<\/b><\/em>” She works as an interior designer and has also come up with her own project idea. “I wanted to do something that didn’t exist yet.” She describes herself as an individual interior designer.<\/p>\n She visits homes and redesigns them according to the owners’ wishes, using existing furniture and accessories. “It’s this ‘before and after’ effect that gets my blood pumping,” says Bettina Sasso, beaming with joy. <\/span>If necessary, she also assists her customers with their purchases in furniture shops. “It is important that I respond to individual needs and do not impose my own taste.” <\/span><\/p>\n One aspect is particularly important to the blonde Swiss woman: sustainability. Ideally, the furnishings should be local products. However, she often finds most things in her customers’ homes anyway. <\/span>With attention to detail: Bettina Sasso designs her clients’ living spaces according to their individual needs. “Many people have real hidden treasures at home: whether it’s furniture, fabrics, paintings, decorations… you can create something great from lots of little things.” Showcasing things is a talent that the Swiss designer was born with.<\/p>\n The trained photographer quickly realised that she was much more interested in staging the situation before the actual photo was taken. “Taking the photo was no longer interesting to me,” explains the Swiss woman, who also lived in New York for a while. She then devoted herself mainly to design.
